At Frieze Seoul 2026, MAĀT Gallery proposed Geoffroy Pithon's pictorial interpretation of The Four Seasons, inspired by Dante’s Divine Comedy.
The seasons were approached not as climatic cycles, but as images of time, conceived as a visual symphony. The project unfolded as an inner journey, where the vegetal landscape reflected shifting emotional and sensory states. Each season was expressed through dynamic, semi-abstract floral compositions shaped by dominant tonalities.

The 18 works were presented as framed paintings on paper, conceived as fragments of an expanded ensemble. Each painting operated as a window onto a broader pictorial space, suggesting continuity beyond the frame, with the wall acting as its extension.
Painting was conceived as a space to inhabit, positioned between the singular artwork and the immersive backdrop. The display encouraged circulation and multiple viewpoints, allowing the works to connect through their edges. This approach extended the artist’s immersive installations and his Cabines, from which certain paintings emerge through an intuitive framing process. Each work retained the memory of a larger landscape, situated between painting, space and experience.
