MAĀT is thrilled to present Geoffroy Pithon’s new solo show, Carmina Paginata, an invitation to explore a universe filled with shapes, colors, and words, engaging in an energetic choir.
"What fascinates me most is how painting can be given space—whether through immersive installations or through the thoughtful arrangement of works in dialogue with each other. This whole is made up of a new body of works created specifically for the exhibition: ten framed paintings on paper, each 110 x 150 cm—six portraits and four landscapes.
The ten works reflect what I might call a “red period.” Color is at the core of my practice, and here, it’s explored through a spectrum that stretches from off-white to carmine red, with neon pinks and oranges, soft half-tones, pastels, magentas, creamy hues, and a layered symphony of light and deep reds—the inspiration behind the exhibition’s title.
Each painting is accompanied by a short epilogue—a free-form text, like lyrics to a musical composition."
