Fabiola Menchelli

The « Green Veil » refers to the Green filter Fabiola used in the dark room to obtain these very Magenta tones which gave its unicity to this iconic series.

Fabiola Menchelli is a Mexican visual artist, born in Mexico in 1983.

Fabiola Menchelli pushes the boundaries of contemporary photography by using a wide variety of digital strategies, experimental techniques and chemical reactions in the dark room. Menchelli’s work speaks to the prevalence of gender roles and biases, using pigment, spatiality, and gaze usually in an effort to challenge preconceived notions of femininity.
In her installation "Velar a Verde (Through the Green Veil)", the artist departs from traditional approaches to photography and invites us to consider different aspects of the medium such as support, color, light and architecture, notably through the folding of photographic paper into three dimensional structures, as sensual as they are sharp.
